“Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.”
— Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)
DEVOTIONAL
There’s something different about watching a bird in flight. It doesn’t fight the air—it moves with it. It rises, not because it forces its way upward, but because it trusts what carries it.
Life often feels the opposite. We push, control, and try to hold everything together. We carry stress, expectations, and uncertainty as if everything depends on us. And over time, that weight wears us down.
But this verse reminds us that strength doesn’t come from holding on—it comes from trusting. From releasing what we were never meant to carry and allowing God to sustain us instead.
The birds above you aren’t worried about how they’ll stay in the air. They move with confidence, supported by something greater than themselves. In the same way, God invites us to live with that kind of trust—not striving, but resting in Him.
You don’t have to carry everything. Some things are meant to be released.
REFLECTION
What are you holding onto right now that is weighing you down?
Are you trying to control something that God is asking you to trust Him with?
What would it look like to let go and allow God to carry you instead?
PRAYER
Lord, I’ve been carrying things I was never meant to hold onto. Help me release control and fully trust You. Renew my strength where I feel worn down, and teach me to rely on You instead of my own efforts. Help me rise above what’s been weighing me down. Amen.
You don’t rise by holding on—you rise by trusting what holds you.
