“Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”

“Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said,
rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
— John 7:38 (NIV)

DEVOTIONAL

There’s something calming about watching water flow. It doesn’t rush without purpose, and it doesn’t stop when something is in its way—it moves, adjusts, and continues forward.

Standing here, you can see how the water keeps pouring, filling what’s below it, bringing life to everything around it. It’s constant. Reliable. Always moving.

Life doesn’t always feel that way. There are seasons where we feel drained, tired, or empty. We give, we carry, we push forward—and eventually, we start to feel like there’s not much left to give.

But Jesus offers something different. He doesn’t just give us enough to get by—He fills us in a way that overflows. Not from our own strength, but from His presence within us.

The water doesn’t create itself—it flows from a source. In the same way, we aren’t meant to constantly pour out without being filled. God is the source, and when we stay connected to Him, what flows out of us is not exhaustion—but life.

REFLECTION

Where in your life are you feeling drained or empty right now?

Are you trying to keep going on your own strength instead of being filled by God?

What is one way you can intentionally reconnect with Him and allow Him to renew you today?

PRAYER

Lord, I’ve been trying to pour out without being filled. Remind me that You are my source. Restore what feels empty in me and help me stay connected to You so that what flows from my life comes from Your strength, not my own. Amen.

You don’t have to keep running on empty—stay connected to the source that never runs dry.
