Even in quiet and frozen seasons, God is preparing renewal that has not yet appeared.

“See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone.”
— Song of Solomon 2:11–12 (NIV)

DEVOTIONAL

Snow has a way of changing everything. The landscape becomes quieter. Movement slows. Familiar places look different under a covering of white. Standing in a scene like this can remind you how life sometimes feels during difficult or uncertain seasons. Progress seems hidden. Growth feels paused.

Yet Scripture gives a different perspective.

Song of Solomon speaks of winter not as the end, but as a season that eventually gives way to something new. The cold does not stay forever. Beneath the surface, God is still working. What looks dormant is not forgotten.

Life often includes seasons where prayers feel unanswered, plans slow down, and progress seems invisible. Those moments can feel discouraging if you believe nothing is happening. But God’s work is not limited to what you can immediately see. Just as winter quietly prepares the ground for spring, God often prepares hearts long before renewal appears.

Looking at these snow-covered mountains reminds us that seasons change. The same God who brings spring also walks with us through winter.

If you are in a quiet season right now, take heart.

Winter will not last forever.

REFLECTION

What season of life are you walking through right now?

Where have you mistaken waiting for being forgotten?

How has God grown you during quieter seasons?

What signs of hope can you look for today?

PRAYER

Lord, thank You for being faithful in every season. When life feels cold, quiet, or uncertain, remind me that You are still working beneath the surface. Help me trust that waiting is not wasted and that renewal comes in Your perfect timing. Give me patience to remain faithful and hope to believe that new growth is coming. Teach me to find peace in winter and trust You for spring. Amen.

Winter may feel long, but God never leaves the mountain untouched forever.
