“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
— John 1:5 (NIV)

DEVOTIONAL

The light doesn’t always come all at once.

Sometimes it breaks through slowly—through the clouds, through the trees, through whatever stands in its way. It finds a way to reach the ground, even when the sky is still heavy.

Life can feel like that.

Moments where things seem unclear, where the weight hasn’t fully lifted, where you’re not quite out of the struggle yet. But even there, the light is already working its way in.

God’s presence doesn’t wait for everything to be perfect.

He shows up in the middle of it.

In the uncertainty. In the waiting. In the in-between moments where you’re still figuring things out.

The darkness may still be there, but it doesn’t win.

It never has.

And it never will.

Even the smallest glimpse of light is enough to remind you that something greater is at work.

You’re not stuck in the dark.

The light is already breaking through.

REFLECTION

Where in your life do you see small signs of light, even if things aren’t fully clear yet?

What situation feels heavy right now, but may already be shifting in ways you don’t yet see?

How can you hold onto hope, even in the middle of uncertainty?

PRAYER

Lord, thank You for being the light in every situation. Even when things feel dark or unclear, help me trust that You are already at work. Open my eyes to see the ways You are moving, and give me hope in the middle of it. Amen.

The darkness doesn’t have the final word—the light always finds a way through.
