DEVOTIONAL

There is a moment just before sunrise when everything still feels dark. The trees are quiet, the light is barely visible, and it can be hard to tell if anything is really changing. But behind the mountain, the sun is already rising.

Life has moments like that too. Seasons where things feel uncertain, heavy, or unclear. It can seem like nothing is shifting, nothing is improving, and nothing is breaking through. But this verse reminds us that darkness never gets the final say.

Light doesn’t fight darkness—it simply shows up, and darkness has no choice but to give way. In the same way, God is always working, even when we can’t fully see it yet. His presence doesn’t depend on how bright things feel in the moment.

What you’re facing right now may still feel like that early hour before sunrise. But that doesn’t mean the light isn’t already on its way. It is coming. It always does.

REFLECTION

Where in your life does it still feel dark right now?
Are you measuring your situation by what you see—or by what God promises?
What would it look like to trust that light is already breaking through, even if it’s not fully visible yet?

PRAYER

Lord, when things feel dark or uncertain, remind me that You are still at work. Help me trust that Your light is stronger than anything I face. Give me patience in the waiting and confidence in Your promises. Let me walk forward knowing that the darkness will not overcome what You are doing. Amen.

You don’t need to see the whole path—just trust the One who already does.
