“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?”

“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?”
— Psalm 27:1 (NIV)

DEVOTIONAL

As the sun dips behind the mountains, the light doesn’t disappear all at once.

It lingers.

The sky holds onto it just a little longer—soft, steady, and calm. Even as darkness approaches, there’s still a glow that reminds you the light hasn’t gone anywhere.

Life has moments like this, too.

Seasons where things begin to feel uncertain. Where clarity fades and shadows start to grow. It’s easy to focus on what’s ending, what’s changing, or what feels unknown.

But God’s light doesn’t vanish when things get dark.

It remains.

Even when you can’t see everything clearly, His presence is still steady. Still guiding. Still covering what you cannot control.

You don’t have to fear what’s ahead.

The same God who carried you through the day will be with you through the night.

And just like the sun will rise again, His light will break through once more.

REFLECTION

What uncertainty or “darkness” are you facing right now?

Where have you seen God remain steady in your life, even when things felt unclear?

How can you choose trust over fear in this season?

PRAYER

Lord, when things feel uncertain, and I can’t see clearly, remind me that You are my light. Help me trust You in every season, knowing that You are steady, present, and in control. Take away my fear and replace it with peace. Amen.

God’s light doesn’t fade—it remains, even when the day ends.
