“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.”

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.”
— Psalm 37:7 (NIV)

DEVOTIONAL

The light fades gently across the sky.

Nothing dramatic. No rush. Just a slow, steady transition from day to night.

It’s easy to overlook moments like this.

They don’t demand attention. They don’t interrupt your thoughts. They simply exist—quiet, calm, and steady.

But there’s something powerful in that kind of stillness.

Life often feels the opposite.

Fast. Loud. Constantly moving. Always something to figure out, fix, or prepare for. Even when things slow down, your mind doesn’t.

But God invites you into something different.

Not urgency—but stillness.

Not striving—but waiting.

The sky doesn’t fight the sunset. It doesn’t try to hold onto the light or rush the darkness.

It simply allows the moment to unfold.

And you’re invited to do the same.

You don’t have to force answers.

You don’t have to control what comes next.

You can be still.

And trust that God is working, even in the quiet.

REFLECTION

What in your life feels rushed or overwhelming right now?

When was the last time you allowed yourself to truly be still before God?

What would it look like to trust Him in the waiting, instead of trying to control the outcome?

PRAYER

Lord, life often feels fast and overwhelming, but You call me to be still. Help me slow down and trust You with what I cannot control. Teach me to wait patiently and find peace in Your presence. Amen.

Stillness isn’t empty—it’s where trust begins.
