Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.

“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.”

— Psalm 143:8 (NIV)

DEVOTIONAL

There is something about a mountain that doesn’t rush. It doesn’t react to the weather, the seasons, or the noise around it. It stands—steady, unmoved, and grounded. That is the picture David gives us of God in this verse.

Life rarely feels that steady. Some days feel uncertain, heavy, or out of control. We try to manage, fix, and stay ahead of everything. But this verse reminds us that we were never meant to be the stronghold—God is.

When David calls God his rock, fortress, and shield, he is not just describing strength—he is describing safety. A place to step into, not something we have to build ourselves. Trusting God does not mean life becomes easy, but it does mean we are no longer facing it alone.

The mountain in front of you doesn’t move because it doesn’t need to. In the same way, God doesn’t shift based on your circumstances. He is steady, dependable, and present—even when everything else feels uncertain.

REFLECTION

Where in your life do you feel unstable or uncertain right now?

Are you trying to carry something that God is asking you to trust Him with?

What would it look like to step into Him as your refuge today instead of standing on your own strength?

PRAYER

Lord, You are my rock and my refuge. When life feels uncertain, remind me that You are steady and unchanging. Help me stop relying on my own strength and instead find rest in You. Be my fortress today, my shield, and my peace. Amen.

Even when you can’t see the sun yet, you can trust that it’s already rising.
