Faith is often built through small steps of trust taken one day at a time.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
— Proverbs 3:5–6 (NIV)

DEVOTIONAL

Some trails are smooth and easy to follow. Others are uneven, steep, and filled with obstacles that force you to slow down and pay attention to every step. Life can feel the same way. There are seasons where the path ahead feels clear, and others where uncertainty makes you question where you are going or whether you are even moving in the right direction.

Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us that faith is not built on having complete understanding. It is built on trusting God even when the trail feels difficult or unclear. Our natural instinct is often to rely on our own plans, timing, and ability to figure everything out. Yet God calls us to place our confidence in Him instead of trying to carry the entire journey on our own.

Looking at a trail like this reminds you that progress usually happens one step at a time. You do not climb the mountain in a single stride. You move forward steadily, carefully, and patiently. In the same way, spiritual growth often happens quietly through daily obedience, trust, and consistency rather than dramatic moments.

Even when the path feels uneven, God is still guiding each step. He sees farther ahead than you can, and He remains faithful through every turn in the trail.

REFLECTION

Where have you been relying more on your own understanding than on God?

What part of your life currently feels uncertain or difficult to navigate?

How can you practice trusting God more intentionally this week?

What is one faithful step you can take today?

PRAYER

Lord, help me trust You even when the path ahead feels uncertain. When I am tempted to rely only on my own understanding, remind me that Your wisdom and direction are greater than my own. Give me patience for the journey and courage to continue taking faithful steps forward. Teach me to walk closely with You each day and trust that You are guiding me even when I cannot fully see where the trail leads. Amen.

God often guides your life one faithful step at a time.
